The Wheelhouse
This part of the ship was just a working room containing little comfort and very draughty. After 2 seasons we decided to do something about it. We moved the doors to a more central position, they opened straight out onto the stern bollards which meant you could work a rope from the wheel, we never found the need. So a complete reworking was done, new openings were cut and the old ones were welded up, the old aluminium windows replaced with wood and double glazed.
We now consider this space our conservatory and spend a great deal of time in it during the summer and even the winter if it is not too harsh. There are very good all round views and plenty of space to drive the ship and walk around without bumping into things/people.
The new doors have lift off hinges so they can be stowed away during those really hot days and with the windows fully drop down, ah the breeze.
