Main Living Area - Salon
This view is taken from the hallway leading to the bedroom and bathroom, viewed towards the kitchen - you will notice that we do not use nautical terms like 'Heads' and 'Galley' . A lot of barges feel like boats and are laid out like boats, Confiance is not, all furniture is free-standing and her general feel is like that of a cottage. We are often complimented on her cosy feel.
Her main roof beam is exposed to help keep that original look, the ceiling is well insulated behind the wipe clean cladding and the original roof planking is still in place with the exterior being protected with roofing felt - no leaks!

This second view is from the kitchen towards the bedroom/bathroom corridor. The floor of the lounge/salon is pine planking over impregnated particle board, the whole floor is 'floating' to allow for any movement due to the flexing of the hull and changes in humidity.
Wall cavities are well insulated, stud walled with ply and some parts overlaid with pine cladding.
The diesel stove provides a good level of background heat throughout the boat and a warm glow within the salon itself, we happily live aboard all winter long even with temperatures as low as -15C outside.
The drop-leaf table provides comfortable eating space for 4 adults, the wheelhouse has eating space for up to 6.
The main seating is an 'L' shaped unit which makes up into a large double bed, providing linen storage within..
